Definition: Nieuwkoop and Faber stage 18; age 19 hr 45 min at 22-24 Celsius; corresponding to the following external morphological criteria: Neural groove stage. Anterior part of neural plate narrow, more or less club-shaped, often narrower towards rostral end. Parallel neural folds in trunk region very close to each other, not yet touching. Length: 1.5 - 1.6 mm.
