During gastrulation, the expression of Fzd4 and Hnf1β is directly induced by RA. The
overlapping activity of Fzd4 and Hnf1b establishes a pre-pancreatic domain within the dorsal
endoderm. Fzd4/Fzd4s is a regulator of Wnt-signalling within the dorsal endoderm, which
modulates Wnt-signalling to a level that allows the specification of pancreatic progenitors
characterized by the co-expression of Ptf1a and Pdx1. Pancreatic progenitors subsequently
