(a) Clk2 effectively induced neural tissue in combination with FGF signaling. clk2‐GR (250 and 500 pg), clk2 SYA‐GR (250 pg and 500 pg) and efgf (1 pg) mRNAs were injected into the animal region of X. laevis embryos at the 4‐cell stage. At the blastula stage, embryos were transferred to a medium containing DEX and the ectodermal explants were isolated. “Embryo” and “−RT” indicate whole embryos examined in the presence or absence of reverse transcriptase, respectively. histone h4 was used as the loading control.
