At 0dPA about 1 to 2 mm of tissue from the distal end of the amputated limb was used as the internal tissue control. Odc (ornithine decarboxylase) was used as an internal control. WMISH data was taken from Neff et al. (2005) with the authors' permission. Sall gene expression levels are normalized to odc and then shown relative to stage-53 0dPA levels of expression, which is arbitrarily set to 1.0.
