Figure 2. Transcriptional repression by RARα inXenopus embryos. Gal4UAS reporter plasmid was injected either alone (left), together with mRNA encoding Gal4–xRARα (200 pg) (middle, GAL–RAR), or together with Gal4–xRARα (200 pg) and c-SMRT (4 ng) mRNAs (right, GAL–RAR+C-SMRT) into both dorsal blastomeres at the 8-cell stage.
