An anti-sense probe against Xl-VSPs shows Xl-VSP transcript in the proximal pronephritic field (black arrowhead) and brain (white arrowhead) of the embryos. This probe does not distinguish between Xl-VSP1 and Xl-VSP2 mRNAs because of the similarity between the two transcripts at the nucleotide level (93%). (B) No staining was observed by ISH in a sibling embryo with a sense control probe. ISH was repeated four times with four different embryonic cohorts. Shown are representative embryos.
