Job Description

Post-doctoral position on Xenopus comparative antiviral-immunity available 

A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jacques Robert in the department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Rochester NY (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/people/22613172-jacques-robert), to study the complex roles of distinct Xenopus tadpole and adult macrophage subsets in host immune defenses, as well as in viral persistence and dissemination during ranavirus infections. The project will involve the development of reverse genetic approach (CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and RNA interference by tansgenesis), whole animal intravital and cell imaging analysis as well as generation and characterization of recombinant viruses. The candidate will also be involved in the supervision of students and technical personnel as well as in the management of the Xenopus laevis Research Resource in Immunobiology (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/mbi/resources/xenopus-laevis/).

Essential Qualifications: A Ph.D. in the fields of immunology, virology or molecular biology. Preference will be given to highly motivated and interactive applicants with strong background in molecular and cellular biology, who published a first-author paper as a result of their graduate work.
