Job Description

A postdoctoral position is funded (through a NIH New Innovator Award to Tien Peng, to define the role of stromal cells in tissue regeneration.

The Peng Lab ( is part of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UCSF, and our lab is focused on dissecting the stromal contribution to the adult stem cell niche, utilizing the lung as a model organ.

Although the focus of our lab is on adult tissue regeneration, applicants with developmental biology background are strongly encouraged to apply. The project will use sophisticated mouse genetic tools to define pathways critical to sustain the niche-defining properties of stromal subsets in adult organs. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new genetic models and apply single-cell sequencing technology to her/his studies to dissect stromal diversity and function during normal maintenance, injury, and aging.

Qualified candidates should have excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with others in a team-oriented environment. Experience in epigenetics would be an asset.

Successful candidate will receive a cost-of-living supplement in addition to the newly raised University of California postdoc pay scale.
