As a negative control, one section was hybridized with a labeled cRNA probe transcribed in the sense orientation of xefiltin (D). In retinal ganglion cells (examples indicated by unlabeled arrowheads), the level of xefiltin mRNA was high, whereas that of XNIF was moderate, and that of NF-L was low.
