In situ hybridization was performed as for CCTy, using an RNA probe transcribed from a partial clone of Xenopus CCTa. A: Expression in the branchial arches of stage 35 embryo. Transcripts are also detected in the somites of a stage 28 embryo (B) and in the facial muscle and ventral oral endoderm at stage 41 (C).
