Vegetal view, stage 10.5. (dorsal to the top) At this stage there is low level expression of int-2 around the closing blastopore. During later gastrula stages int-2 is expressed at much higher levels in the lateral and ventral blastopore lip. This pattern is complementary to the expression of eFGF which is expressed at higher levels in the dorsal lip region during these stages. Dorsal view, stage 13. By the end of gastrulation int-2 is highly expressed in the posterior of the embryo and in a stripe in the neural plate at the level of the hindbrain. Note that unlike eFGF, int-2 expression is not seen in the dorsal midline. Dorsal view, stage 20. int-2 continues to be expressed as a stripe in the hindbrain region. Also (not visible in this image) int-2 is expressed in the developing tailbud.
