As the lumen of the pronephros first forms, just a tiny patch of stain is observed behind the head. Lateral view, stage 31. The staining pattern begins to resemble the shape of the pronephros as pronephric mesenchyme condenses and the lumen extends around stage 32. The shadow of the pronephros on the right hand side of the embryo is the out-of-focus patch just below the left pronephros. Stage 32-33. Stage 35-36 close up. There is a little faint stain in the very most rostral part of the distal tubule. Stage 35-36 scanning electron micrograph
