Description: To prepare the irx1-VP16 construct, the VP16Mix.1 DNAs were used (Lemaire et al., 1998). The Mix.1 homeodomain was removed with BamHI and NotI digestion, and most of the irx1 cDNA was inserted using a BamHI site (irx1 cDNA position 440) and a NotI site in the polylinker 3′ of the cDNA. The resulting fusion proteins contain most of the irx1 coding region except the first 41 amino acids.
