Renal corpuscles in the renal cortex. A) Ultrafiltrate in urinary space enters the proximal convoluted tubule at the urinary pole of the renal corpuscle. B) At the urinary pole of the renal corpuscle, the proximal convoluted tubule receives the ultrafiltrate. Note the presence of microvilli on the proximal tubule cells. C) Opposite from the urinary pole of the renal corpuscle is the vascular pole. The afferent and efferent arterioles enter and leave the glomerulus at the vascular pole.
