Oocyte nucleus. The nuclei of oocytes have many nucleoli that tend to be located near the nuclear envelope. A Balbiani body, which is a large mass of mitochondria, is located close to the nucleus. Within the cytoplasm are many small membrane-bound structure called yolk platelets, which provide nutrition for the developing embryo.
