High magnification images of oviduct glands. A) Longitudinal orientation of the oviduct glands. The glandular cell nuclei are located at the basal side of the cells and secrete their contents into the glandular lumen that is confluent with the lumen of the oviduct. The epithelial cells lining the oviduct lumen are ciliated, and aid in the transport of oocytes from the ovaries to the cloaca.
