Research Interests

Developmental control of gene expression

Research Area

As compared to somatic cells, the early embryo employs a much more dynamic range of transcription regulatory mechanisms. We are interested in characterizing the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional regulation and their dynamics in the early vertebrate embryo, using Xenopus laevis and Xenopus tropicalis as model systems. We are interested in mechanisms of transcription initiation, epigenetic regulation by histone post-translational modifications and DNA methylation and gene regulatory networks.
