The mission of the 7^th Aquatic Animal Mod­els of Human Disease Conference is to provide scientists using aquatic animal models a unique opportunity to exchange scientific information, identify research tools and opportunities, address environmental health issues, and encourage the utility of aquatic models for the study of human disease.

 

Our conference boasts a program replete with established scientists employing contemporary technologies to produce the most impacting results.  In addition, this conference remains firm in its commitment to en­courage platform and poster sessions that allow more junior scientists and graduate students opportunities to present their work and to network with established investigators from around the world.

 

We will be meeting at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa, a beautiful resort along the Colorado River just outside of Austin, Texas.  The conference will include symposia presentations, exhibits, poster sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities that highlight­ recent developments in the field. Several social events are planned, including an excursion into Austin, a visit to the Xiphophorus Genetic Stock Center, a closing banquet on the grounds of Texas State University, nightly gatherings around the outdoor fire pit, and an exciting keynote address by Dr. Monte Westerfield of the Institute of Neuroscience.

 

This venue will encourage development of an appreciation of aquatic animal models and their contributions to understanding human disease. This meeting is unique in that our program is not limited to a sin­gle disease, discipline, or species, and thereby will provide a breadth and diversity of topics not seen in more narrowly focused conferences. 

 

The mild December Texas climate should afford attendees ample opportunity for recreational as well as scientific interactions. We hope to see you at the 7^th Aquatic Animal Models of Human Disease Conference as it returns to Texas.
