Thyroid hormone regulation of a transcriptional coactivator in Xenopus laevis: implication for a role in postembryonic tissue remodeling.

Gene Clone Species Stages Anatomy
hmgn3.S laevis NF stage 55 to NF stage 66 intestine

Figure 2. Trip7 expression correlates with intestinal remodeling during Xenopus metamorphosis. A: Trip7 mRNA level in the intestine is low before (stages 5557) or after (stage 66) metamorphosis but high at the climax of metamorphosis (stages 6064). Total RNA was isolated from intestine of animals at various stages. Ten micrograms were analyzed by Northern blot hybridization with Trip7 probe or the loading control probe EF1α. The size of Trip7 mRNA was estimated to be around 0.9 kb based on RNA size standard (Life Technologies). B: Trip7 is a late thyroid hormone (TH) response gene. Stage 55/56 tadpoles were treated with 5 nM TH for indicated time periods. RNA was isolated from the intestine and analyzed as above. Note that Trip7 mRNA was not induced until 3 days of treatment or longer, in contrast to early TH response genes, which are induced within 24 hr (Shi, 1996).
