[Cellular proliferative potentials of the pigment and ciliated epithelium of the eye in clawed toads normally and during regeneration].

Mitashov VI , Maliovanova SD .

???displayArticle.abstract???
It was shown by means of 3H-thymidine autoradiography that the cells of almost all layers of intact eyes had proliferative potencies both in albino and normal strains of Xenopus laevis, as it is the case in the Urodela. The removal of retina and lens in X. laevis, unlike in the Urodela, did not result in the intensification of proliferation of the pigment epithelium cells. The cells of ciliary region represent the source of retina regeneration of X. laevis. The regenerating retina is incomplete by its structure and volume.
