The fgfrl1 protein is a decoy receptor for FGF ligands, containing extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a transmembrane domain but lacking the intracellular tyrosine kinase domain, localizing to the plasma membrane. It is expressed in the developing notochord and somites. Its function modulates FGF signaling during embryogenesis, particularly in patterning the mesoderm and axial structures. Knockdown experiments result in abnormal notochord and somite development. [-]
