AI Protein Function : The syne1 gene encodes a nesprin-1 protein which is a core component of the linker of nucleoskeleton and cytoskeleton (LINC) complex. This multi-isomeric protein localizes to the nuclear envelope and cytoplasm, functioning to anchor the nucleus to the cytoskeleton and maintain nuclear organization. It is expressed in the notochord, muscle, and neural tube during development, playing a role in myonuclear anchoring and cell polarization.
