(D) A model for early stage proximal pronephrogenesis regulated by the Notch signalling pathway. We propose a pool of cells undergoing Notch signalling and located on the lateral side of the dorso-anterior pronephros anlagen at tail bud stages of development, mediate medio-lateral patterning, permitting the glomus and tubules to develop independently.
