| Description: |
This is the default line for inbred pigmented laboratory X.laevis frogs used in mutant, transgenic and other experiments where specific strain is not otherwise identified. These frogs are essentially randomly mated within a multigenerational population and therefore are technically inbred, to a significant degree, although not proven to be truely isogenic. We used to call these 'outbred' but that shoudl only be applied to newly acquired colonies of wild X. laevis, with multiple founders, that are randomly bred to maintain genetic diversity. |
