Job Description

The laboratory of Dr. Ali May in the Department of Cell, Developmental and Regenerative Biology and the Department of Otolaryngology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York is seeking to hire a creative and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to spearhead a project investigating epithelial cell dynamics in the human airway. About us: Our team seeks to understand how epithelial morphogenesis, cellular patterning and stem cell behavior contribute to diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis and Chronic Rhinosinusitis. We employ methods of in vitro organ culture, in vivo model systems, high resolution microscopy, 3D image-rendering, and single cell and bulk RNA-sequencing, to define how multiple cell types organize during development, maintain themselves during homeostasis and regenerate following injury. The May lab is a member of the Institute of Regenerative Medicine at Mount Sinai and the recently established Institute for Airway Science at the Mount Sinai Health System and Icahn School of Medicine. The successful candidate will interact frequently with collaborators in the research program and be supported in experimental design, analysis and presentation of findings, grant applications and scientific manuscript reviewing and writing. For more information on the lab, please visit: https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/maylab/ About the role: With guidance and mentorship from Dr. May, the successful candidate will spearhead a project characterizing genetic drivers of epithelial architecture and function, with a focus on early stages of embryonic branching morphogenesis, lineage commitment and cellular differentiation. Techniques will involve single cell multiomics and computational approaches, immunofluorescent imaging and high resolution microscopy, in vitro organ culture and in vivo models. Requirements: · Ph.D. degree with strong experience in molecular/cellular biology or related field Preferred experience and interests: · Sample processing for genomics · Single-cell RNAseq · Bulk RNAseq · R programming · Cell/Tissue culture methods · Histological and immunofluorescent analysis · High-resolution microscopy · Mouse model systems · Flow Cytometry · Epithelial biology Postdoctoral salary will begin at $70,000 and includes health care benefits. Candidate will be eligible to apply for ISMMS Postdoc Housing, located in NYC. International candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
