Job Description

A postdoctoral research associate position and PhD graduate student position are available in the laboratory of Dr. Jing Yang at the Department of Comparative Biosciences, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Yang laboratory (https://vetmed.illinois.edu/yang-lab/) investigates how maternal gene products regulate early development. We apply biochemical, cell biological, and multi-omic approaches to study post-transcriptional regulation of the oocyte-to-embryo transition (OET), a developmental process that allows fully differentiated cells to regain totipotency. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are curious and passionate about science to study how the remodeling of cellular organelles and maternal RNAs dictates the temporal and spatial gene expression during the OET and early embryonic development. The postdoc position is available immediately. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, or other related fields. Prior experience in Xenopus or zebrafish is preferred. Candidates with skills in bioinformatic analysis are strongly encouraged to apply. The PhD graduate student position will start in the fall of 2025. Applicants are expected to have strong research experience. Our graduate program has a rolling admission system. Applications will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled. To be considered, please submit a C.V., cover letter, and names of 3 references to Dr. Jing Yang: yangj@illinois.edu
