Job Description

PHD position We are recruiting one PhD student interested in cell biology, development, and bioenergetics. Expected Start Date : June 2026 (flexible) APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 28, 2026 OUR RESEARCH FOCUS Cell migration is essential for vertebrate development and plays a key role in disease, including cancer metastasis. Despite its importance, we still do not fully understand how migrating cells generate energy for their movement. Our goal: to uncover how cell signaling instructs mitochondria to produce energy required for cell migration. Cell signaling → Mitochondria → Energy (ATP) → Cell movement WHAT WE DO • Cell signaling & WNT/PCP pathways • Mitochondria and bioenergetics • Live imaging & quantitative cell biology • Xenopus embryos as an in vivo vertebrate model Apply CV + motivation letter Deadline: February 28, 2026 Contact Jakub Harnoš, Ph.D. Masaryk University, Brno, Czechia 📧 harnos@sci.muni.cz
