UniProtKB Protein Function: Catalyzes the reversible conversion of 3-phosphohydroxypyruvate to phosphoserine and of 3-hydroxy-2-oxo-4-phosphonooxybutanoate to phosphohydroxythreonine.

AI Protein Function : The gene psat1 encodes phosphoserine aminotransferase 1, an enzyme involved in the phosphorylated pathway of serine biosynthesis. It functions to catalyze the conversion of 3-phosphohydroxypyruvate to phosphoserine using glutamate as an amino donor. This protein is localized to the mitochondria. Expression is found during embryonic development in tissues including the brain, eye, neural tube, and branchial arches.
