AI Protein Function : Sfrp2 encodes a secreted frizzled-related protein, which functions as an extracellular Wnt signaling antagonist by binding directly to Wnt ligands. It regulates anterior-posterior neural patterning and is involved in neural crest formation, craniofacial cartilage development, and cranial ganglia formation. Expression is detected in the cement gland, olfactory placode, retina, otic vesicle, midbrain-hindbrain boundary, and branchial arches during embryogenesis.
