UniProtKB Protein Function: Functions as component of the Arp2/3 complex which is involved in regulation of actin polymerization and together with an activating nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) mediates the formation of branched actin networks.

AI Protein Function : The arpc3 gene encodes a subunit of the arp2/3 complex which nucleates actin filament branches. This protein localizes to the cytoplasm and cell cortex where it functions in regulating cell shape, motility, and adhesion during embryonic development. It is involved in gastrulation movements including mesendoderm migration.
