AI Protein Function : The cetn2 protein is a calcium-binding protein localizing to centrioles in cycling cells and the basal bodies of cilia. It is expressed in photoreceptor cells where it participates in connecting cilium formation and outer segment development. During spermatogenesis, cetn2 associates with the sperm flagella. In response to ultraviolet-induced DNA damage, cetn2 relocates to the nucleus.
