(C,F,I) Sections of whole-mount-stained embryos show that cells expressing a-tubulin are located in the inner layer (parenthesis or arrow labeled “i”) at stage 13, and in the outer layer (brackets labeled “o”) at stage 16 and older, indicating that the ciliated cells first arise in the inner layer before stage 13 and then subsequently move into the outer layer.
