Alveolar sacs of the lung. The bronchioles, which are not lined with alveolar capillaries, give rise to alveolar sacs. Alveolar sacs are blind ended pouches lined with alveolar capillaries and pneumocytes. This is the location where gas exchange occurs with the erythrocytes.
